The town hall lists it as the oldest church in the central park; it has three altars, one with a painting of Saint John of Nepomuk.
About the place
The present church was built in 1752 by Bishop Count Forgách Pál, probably to plans by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Ricca. It has a tower with an onion-shaped top, three altars and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. In the hilltop cemetery you can see the ruins of a medieval church from 1413.
The church stands in the central park, next to the museum and the college. We found no published visiting hours; the interior can be seen at services.
Good to know
- Go before or after Sunday mass if you want to see the interior and altars.
- Keep quiet and do not take photos during services.
- Walk the square: the college, museum and church are within 300 m of each other.
