It is the oldest monument in town, listed as a historic monument with phases from the 13th to the 18th century.
About the place
The historic monuments list dates the church to the 13th–18th centuries. The Hungarian Wikipedia says the present building is from the 18th century and stands on 16th–17th-century foundations. It has a white tower with a clock and a silver spire, and the churchyard is enclosed by a stone wall.
The church is at the edge of the central park, 150 m from the town hall. The town hall occupies the former Csáky manor of the 18th century, partly demolished in 1950, and the Roman Catholic church is 100 m away. You can see all three in a quarter-hour walk.
Good to know
- You can usually see the inside on Sunday, at the service.
- The best view of the tower is from the park on Calea Republicii.
- Combine it with the Roman Catholic church and the town hall in the former Csáky manor.
